Artist Statement

My practice focuses on contemporary jewellery that explores identity and societal pressures on the body. I use the features of myself, my mum, and women in my life to create wearable pieces that hold personal meaning while reflecting shared experiences of women and girls.

I translate intimate facial details into wearable forms using digital CAD processes and traditional fabrication techniques. My process mirrors that of a plastic surgery practice: scanning the face and its features into a computer program and redesigning them. However, instead of altering the body, I replicate it exactly in precious metal. Rooted in both personal narrative and wider cultural research, my work responds to the pressures placed on women, challenging the superficial notion that appearance determines value.

My work freezes a moment in time within the ageing process, transforming it into something lasting. The result is a balance between autonomy and adornment.

The work responds to pressures surrounding appearance and ageing, questioning the idea that beauty defines value and instead highlighting individuality and lived experience. By transforming real features into jewellery, I celebrate the female body as it is. The pieces are not just decorative; they platform female voices and allow the wearer to inhabit the experience of the subject, presenting an unedited human form.
